FIDA GHANA TAKES GBV EDUCATION TO MALLAM MARKET

As part of activities marking FIDA Ghana’s 40th Anniversary and the ongoing 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, FIDA Ghana embarked on a vibrant community outreach at Mallam Market, engaging traders, transport operators, market women, and residents in an empowering sensitization exercise.

During the outreach, FIDA Ghana members educated the public on the various forms of gender-based violence, its legal implications, early warning signs, and the importance of reporting abuse. Participants were also briefed on available support systems, including access to legal aid, psychosocial services, and referral pathways for survivors.

The team held interactive dialogues, answered questions, and created awareness on the role every community member can play in preventing violence and protecting vulnerable groups. The engagement was lively, impactful, and deeply appreciated by the market community.

This outreach forms part of FIDA Ghana’s broader commitment to strengthening public knowledge on women’s rights, promoting community-level advocacy, and ensuring that legal protection is accessible to all.

Proudly supported by AWDF and UNFPA.
